Vision:  Who we are called to be

The Vision of the Brookside Church is
To live in such communion with God and one another that all who encounter us would experience Him.
John 17:21

At Brookside Church, our vision is to be the answer to the prayer of Jesus.  As He began His final movement toward the cross, He looked ahead to see you and me.  He called out to the Father on our behalf, praying that we would be one, just as He and the Father are one.  He prayed that through all of us who would believe, the world would know that the Father sent Him.  We want to be the vehicle through which His love and message are made known throughout the world.  His prayer for us is about who we are; and who we are generates what we do.

Mission:  What we are called to do

The Mission of the Brookside Church is
To make disciples who make disciples.
Matthew 28:19-20

Following the resurrection of Jesus, His commission to His followers was quite clear:  multiply.  As I have done for you, so you must do for the world.  It’s not quick or easy, but neither is it complex.  The church must be willing to get her hands dirty, investing fully in the lives of all who are willing to trust in the Lord.  And the mission is not complete until those we’ve raised up in the faith are raising up others.

Strategy:  How we are called to accomplish this

Connect.  Grow.  Serve.

Connect with God, the Church and Others.  Acts 2:42-47
Grow in Faith, Knowledge and Love.  Colossians 1:9-14
Serve in the Church, the Community and the World.  Acts 1:8

The beauty of the Great Commission is that it not only reminds us what we must do, but also shows us how to do it.  The call of Christ is like a perpetual circle of obedience and movement towards Him:  when we go into the world to make disciples, we connect people to Him and the fellowship of the Church as we baptize them into the Triune Name of God.  We help them grow in faith, knowledge and love as we teach them to follow all He commanded.  And then they, in turn, serve locally and abroad as they go make disciples in the same pattern.  Thus, the circle continues.
