Ryan Bash
Lead Pastor
Ryan Bash served as the pastor of Trinity Chapel CCCU from 2007 until coming to Brookside in February of 2016. He and his wife, Crissy, have three children: Cameron (12), Cailynn (9) and Cooper (2). Ryan volunteered as a firefighter and chaplain in addition to pastoring at Trinity.  He takes great joy in teaching and preaching the Scripture wherever the Lord provides the opportunity.  A 2001 graduate of Asbury University, Ryan received his Master of Divinity from Wesley Biblical Seminary in 2013 and has been ordained with the CCCU since 2006. Before becoming a lead pastor, Ryan was Pastor of Student Ministries at Faith Memorial Church in Lancaster from 2002-2007. His deep desire is to see God’s people say “yes,” wherever the call, whatever the cost.  Fun facts:

  • Ryan likes to run and loves to eat. He says he actually only likes to run because he loves to eat!
  • He also loves basketball and watching his kids play soccer.
  • Ryan authored the book Follow Me: Daring to Live the Life of Full Abandon in 2013.


Jack Norman
Founding Pastor
Jack Norman began ministry in January of 1957.  He pastored four churches:  Fruit Hill, which he accepted at the age of 19 and pastored for three years, Chillicothe High Street for 8-1/2 years, and in 1973, he founded the Brookside Church.  After pastoring Brookside for 17 years, he accepted the position of South Central District Superintendent of the Churches of Christ in Christian Union.  He served in this position for ten years and then returned to Brookside as the Senior Adult Minister until he retired on May 3, 2015.  Jack continues to serve as an evangelist, conference speaker and trainer at Church Growth Conferences as well as helping with congregational care at Brookside.


Dan BennettDan Bennett
Associate Pastor
Dan is a 35 year veteran of ministry, beginning as a preaching pastor with the Methodist Church in   Scioto and Ross Counties.  In the years following, he accepted an invitation as youth pastor with the First Wesleyan Church in Chillicothe.  In 1989 he joined the work at Brookside as Pastor of Evangelism. Dan served ten years with Pastors David Dean, Dorothy Meadows, and initially, Jack Norman. He was ordained by the Churches of Christ in Christian Union in 1994 and left Brookside in 1999 to serve Gallipolis CCCU and later Winchester CCCU. He returns to Ross County and Brookside with a desire and an urgency to finish well where he loves the people and work God is doing.  Dan and his wife, Deb, have two grown children, a son and daughter in law, and five grandchildren. Their greatest joy is serving and following Christ. The prayer of their lives is to add to God’s wonderfully amazing ministry at Brookside.

Matt Steinbrook

Matt Steinbrook
Associate Pastor
Matt has served at Brookside in various ministries over the years and most recently has taken on the role of Associate Pastor. He and his wife, Sally, have three beautiful daughters, Emma, Ava, and Piper.


Jeremiah Truex
Youth Pastor
Jeremiah is a recent graduate of Ohio Christian University.  Raised with four sisters by their parents, Jon (a youth pastor) and Jodie (a children’s pastor), Jeremiah is very familiar with life in ministry.  Along with a great sense of humor and excitement for life, Jeremiah leads with a heart for youth and a love for God.


ralphRalph Hux
Associate Pastor of Senior Adults
Dr. Ralph Hux serves as the General Secretary for The Churches of Christ in Christian Union as a part-time associate pastor of senior adults at Brookside Church. He has held his ordination with The Churches of Christ in Christian Union since 1989. Ralph has served as Admissions Coordinator for Ohio Christian University (1989-1991), Associate Pastor of Liberty Road Community Church in Lexington, Kentucky (1991-1994) and Lead Pastor of the Praise Memorial Church (University Church) in Circleville, Ohio (1994-1997). In 1997 he was invited by Dr. Dan Tipton, General Superintendent, to serve as the Director of Communications for The Churches of Christ in Christian Union. Dr. Tom Hermiz, later created a more extensive position and invited Ralph to serve as the General Secretary encompassing the oversight of the departments of Communications, Ordination, and as the Vice Chairperson for the General Church Extension Board. Dr. Hux has served on various boards of the denomination both on the district and general levels. Ralph has three earned degrees, a Bachelor of Religion from Ohio Christian University (1989), a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary (1994) and a Doctor of Ministry from Asbury Theological Seminary (2011).  Dr. Hux and his wife Becky live in Chillicothe, Ohio and attend Brookside Church (CCCU). They have one daughter, Danielle (21), who is currently a senior at Ohio Northern University as a pharmacy major.

Rachel Elliott rachel elliott2
Children’s Pastor
Rachel Elliott joined the staff at Brookside Church as the Children’s Ministry Director on June 1, 2013. She graduated from Ohio Christian University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Phycology Human Relations. She is married to Ryan and they have two beautiful children, Rylee and Reid.  She and her family live on a farm where they raise meat and dairy goats, as well as grow produce to sell at the local Farmers Market.  Rachel has had various experiences working with children, including coordinating youth summer camps when she traveled with her college travel team, organizing youth programing, and the Ross County 4-H youth program where she has served as an organizational advisor for the Amazing Country Kids 4-H Club for the last seven years. Since she started attending  Brookside Church  she has been involved in various aspects of Children’s Ministry.  Rachel also helps  coordinate the Upward Basketball program.  She is passionate about children’s ministry and finds fulfillment in working with children in order to enrich their lives and draw them to a personal relationship with Christ.

Susan Jones
Worship Leader
Susan Jones has been on staff at Brookside since September of 2003.  Prior to coming to Brookside, she served at Heritage Memorial Church in Washington Court House for six years as the Director of Ministries.  Susan graduated from Ohio Christian University in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree in religion and education.  She also studied at MidAmerica Nazarene University.  While at both OCU and MNU, Susan traveled with public relations music teams all over the United States.  She has been married to George for 30 years and they have two sons, Luke and Grant.  Some of Susan’s responsibilities at Brookside include leading worship, directing the choir, working on details in events and ministries, and managing media and technology.
